Birthday Party Ideas
Here are some great ideas for themed
parties:
Plane Party,
Bug Party,
Dinosaur Party,
Clown Party and
Pretty in Pink Party.
Boys of all ages love planes and this is
a great party for getting dads to join in. If possible see if you can
include a trip to a local museum that features planes. Check out
MOTAT in Auckland or
Omaka in Blenheim, or even a visit to the local
airport in your areas.
Invitations:
Start the theme party by sending out
invitations done as plane tickets. The arrival dates and departure times
become the date of the party and the time the party takes off!
Party Food:
If a visit is out of the question you can
create a fun party at home. Use plane cookie cutters to make tasty
biscuit treats for the kids. Photocopy images of planes and get them
sealed to make cool placemats. You can even put each child's name on the
image, if using your computer, and the children can take these home at
the end of the party.
Party games:
If you are playing pass the parcel, then have little planes as part of
the prize. Musical chairs takes on a new meaning when one of the chairs
is done up as the 'pilot's seat'.
Little children will love this version of the sheet
game, where an adult holds either end of a large sheet and lifts it up
and down while the children run (fly) underneath it.
Older children will love to make paper planes. Use
different coloured paper and at the end of the plane making have a
competition to see which plane flies the best.
Another thing that boys love are bugs and
here is a party for those children who love the creepy crawlies!
Invitations: Send out invitations
in the shape of bugs
Party Bags:
Go to the $2 shop and get a bag of bugs
to put in to the take home party bags.
Party food: Use snake lollies as
cake decorations - you could even call them worms!
Party games:
There are many children's videos, like 'Bugs Life' that
are ideal for children parties and are a great thing to put on at the
end of a party while waiting for parents to turn up. Another game,
better known as the mummy game, can be transformed in to the caterpillar
came. You will need a roll of toilet paper for each team. Each team
chooses a caterpillar to be wrapped up in paper. The first person to
wrap up their caterpillar wins.
Boys love dinosaurs and these can be done
along the same lines as the bug party.

The colour
pink and little girls
go hand in hand. We have a great article on how to create a wonderful pink
themed party - including food ideas.

Everyone loves a clown and having a clown entertain your
children can take a large load off parents who are stuck for entertainment
for the party goers.
