- When you head north out of
Wellington
along State Highway One you will drive through some of the
following towns:
Paraparaumu,
Otaki, Levin,
Raumati
and
Waikanae. These towns
are within an hour's drive from Wellington and are easily
accessible from the Hutt Valley. So instead of just passing
through why not take a day trip and visit some of the great
family-friendly places they have to offer.

Paekakariki

Battle Hill Farm
Forest Park which is of interest to families can be found
on Paekakariki Hill Road. Between Paekakariki and Raumati South is
Queen
Elizabeth Park.
Steam Inc.

Rail and
Heritage Museum
are located at the Paekakariki Railway Station and are open
weekends and public holidays. The Rail and Heritage Museum is

Paraparaumu

You
can get to Paraparaumu by catching a train at Wellington's railway
station. The trains travel regularly due to many residents working
in Wellington city.

Otaki
is about one hour's drive from central Wellington along State Highway
One. There are two main parks in
Otaki. Haruatai Park on Mill Road and an adventure playground, which is close to the
beach at
Tasman Road.

Raumati
-

Raumati lies just south of Paraparaumu in the lower North Island.
Raumati has three adventure
playgrounds. The first playground is on Alexander Road, the second
Marine Gardens,
is off the northern end of Rosetta
Road, and lastly Matthew Parkon Menin Road.
