Hamilton is the main tertiary centre of the Waikato, with the Waikato
Polytechnic and the University of Waikato sited here. With the Waikato
River running through the city and its flat landscape, you will often
see students and other residents of Hamilton riding on their bikes to
get places.

Being only a short driving distance from
Te
Awamutu make sure you visit the town that was the birthplace of
the Finn brothers - of the Crowd House and Split Enz fame. Again,
because of its location, you are only a few hours from
Auckland,
the
National Park,
Tauranga
and
Te Aroha.
You can travel by air to Hamilton, the city has
an international airport located 15kms south of the city centre.

beautiful gardens in Hamilton. Recommended and its free.

Hamilton even
has a lake,Lake Rotoroa (Hamilton Lake) which has access off Lake
Crescent, Domain Drive or Ruakiwi Road. The lake features walking
tracks around the lake where the children will enjoy feeding the ducks.

There are many
parks and reserves in Hamilton and with the Waikato River running
through the city you can enjoy one of the many walking tracks
available. Here are just a couple:

Milne Park
has a short river walk starting at Victoria Street near Fairfield
Bridge and heading to close to Teddy Street.

Another walk
that will take a bit longer starts from Jesmond Park at the
Claudelands Bridge off Claudelands Road and continues along Memorial
Drive, over Victoria Bridge and down along Hillsborough Terrace,
through Yendall Parkand ends at the Hamilton
Gardens.
