Hamilton is the main tertiary centre of the Waikato, with the Waikato Polytechnic and the University of Waikato sited here. With the Waikato River running through the city and its flat landscape, you will often see students and other residents of Hamilton riding on their bikes to get places.

Being only a short driving distance from Te Awamutu make sure you visit the town that was the birthplace of the Finn brothers - of the Crowd House and Split Enz fame. Again, because of its location, you are only a few hours from Auckland, the National Park, Tauranga and Te Aroha

You can travel by air to Hamilton, the city has an international airport located 15kms south of the city centre.
