Napier is known for its Art Deco architecture. This
town was devastated when in 1931 a massive earthquake destroyed much of
the town and claimed 258 lives. However, from the ruins rose the town
fashioned in the style of its time, in the art deco
architecture which is still a main feature of this town.
|
Napier is only a ten minute drive to
Hastings,
which was also struck by the earthquake in 1931. But it is not only the
architecture which draws people to this area, with wonderful wines and
great tasting produce you may find you just don't want to leave.
