Kids Friendly New
Zealand Limited has come a long way since February 2002 when it was created
as an online resource centre for families travelling to and living in New Zealand.
Back in 2002 New Zealand had
an abundance of resources available to parents, but locating these
resources was difficult. Parents had to contact various organisations and
search telephone directories and websites to get just one thread of
information they needed. The goal of Kids Friendly NZ was to put all that
information into one area for ease of access, in order to help parents to
find the desired information. |
|
Since 2002 the Kids
Friendly NZ website has grown and changed to include information about
family-friendly businesses and tourist destinations that welcome families.
As more and more
visitors came to the site, a wider range of information was requested
and so in August 2003 the free online magazine, Kids Friendly New Zealand, was born. Now each month
visitors can view new articles in this magazine keeping them informed and
entertained.
In August 2006 the editor
for Kids Friendly New Zealand, Gaye Miller, attended the
forum on UNCROC (United Nations Convention for the
Rights of Child) which was hosted in Wellington, New
Zealand, by the Department of Youth Development.
Later in November of the same year, Kids Friendly New Zealand became the first fully digital
magazine publisher to become a member of the
Magazine
Publishers Association in New Zealand. November 2006 also saw the
magazine being registered with the National Library of New Zealand as a monthly
magazine (digital).

You can now find
the
Kids Friendly New Zealand digital magazine in the latest edition of
the New Zealand Lonely Planet Guide. Due to our regular
articles on travel around New Zealand we decided to join the
Tourism Industry Association of New Zealand.
We were accepted by the Association as a full member in
2007

 |
In October 2007
Kids Friendly New Zealand, in association with TVNZ, will be
providing families with information on the new free to air channel
TVNZ 6. TVNZ is a family channel with family related content.
In November 2008
our founder published her first book, "Where Shall We Take The
Kids?" a great book about family friendly destinations and
activities around New Zealand.
In 2009 Kids
Friendly New Zealand partnered up with Budget Rent A Cars and
Qualmark. In the same year the Air New Zealand fare booking widget
was added to the website.
