Craigieburn Valley Ski Area, Located in the heart of New Zealand's Southern Alps, where the ups are good; the downs are even better. Steep narrow chutes, wide open powder bowls, un-crowded runs or just a place to take it easy in the awesome vista of the Craigieburn Range. Craigieburn Valley has all this and more for intermediate to advanced off-piste enthusiasts.

Hanmer Springs Ski Area is situated on Mt. St. Patrick, 1850m, and is an easy 40 minutes drive from the alpine thermal holiday resort of Hanmer Springs. Hanmer Springs Ski Area has 10% Beginner, 60% Intermediate and 30% Advanced slopes. It is not a big field but it is made up of three basins and thus has a variety of terrain which has something for everyone.

Mt Hutt has some of the best facilities in the country including the Summit Six, six seater chairlift, a dedicated quad chair, a triple chair and a beginners’ Magic Carpet which offers access to a wide variety of trails and fantastic mix of terrain. The UP & GO terrain park and Dirty Dog Halfpipe cater perfectly freestylers of all levels. Mt Hutt is family and beginner friendly and features an award winning Snowsports School and a licensed Skiwiland Crèche. Children six and under ski for free

Mount Olympus Ski Area

Mt Olympus ski area is a south facing basin set high in the Craigieburn Range - perfect for trapping powder dumps! 450m of vertical drop over 60 hectares of varied terrain provide skiing and riding from beginner to extreme. Olympus is also the ideal gateway to some of New Zealand's finest touring.
 

Ohau Ski Fields

Ohau, as part of the Ohau Range in the Main Divide. ‘The Boulevard’ offers learners and intermediates an easy and fun skiing or snowboarding experience from the top of the chairlift down to the base facilities. The chairlift also provides access to a wide variety of slopes suitably challenging for experts and exciting for intermediates. A very gentle slope, serviced by a snow mat, is ideal for children and beginners. The platter lift is more exciting for the developing beginner.

Porters Ski Area has a wide range of runs for  all abilities. They have gentle runs for beginners and kids, long cruising runs for the intermediates, and real challenges for the advanced – and all sorts of bumps and lumps and jumps for the boarders!

Roundhill Ski Area is situated in the heart of the Mackenzie Country. It's all about fun, sun and snow at Roundhill! Skiing and snowboarding lessons for all levels and smooth trails for beginner and intermediate skiers, there is also the Terrain park, boxes, rails and jumps for skiers and snowboarders.

Temple Basin Ski field and ski club

Temple Basin located on the Main Divide of the Southern Alps at Arthur's Pass National Park. Temple Basin Ski Area covers a great variety of terrain spread over four separate basins. There are gentle slopes for complete beginners, adrenalin-pumping challenges for the expert, and everything in between.

Coronet Peak’s diverse terrain, superb facilities, views and proximity to Queenstown create an unparalleled winter experience for all.  Full base facilities include eateries, retail, rental and repair, Snowsports School and a licensed Skiwiland Crèche. Coronet Peak this year doubled the size of its dedicated beginner area, with a new Carpet and snowmaking guns in this area which will significantly improve the beginner’s experience. The Remarkables Ski Area is known for its alpine environment, relaxed atmosphere and sense of fun. The mountain’s varied trails, terrain parks and backcountry areas are very family friendly. Freestylers will love the brand new UP & GO Terrain Park– twice the size of the existing terrain park, whilst the novice can progress in the Fruju Beginner Park while not-so-serious can put skis and boards aside and enjoy the Ozone Tubing Park.  There's live music on the deck and children 10 and younger ski free.
