- Controlling and Managing Children with Asthma
-
- Signs of asthma in children are:
- - Breathlessness
- - Coughing, particularly at night
and after exercise
- - Tight feeling in the chest
-
- Your doctor, nurse or asthma educator can discuss these symptoms
with you. It is a good idea to write a diary of when the symptoms
occur. The information obtained over 2-4 weeks will help clarify
whether your child has asthma and it will also provide the basis for
preparing an Asthma Management Plan. An Asthma Management Plan is a
written plan agreed to by both health professional and the patient
(in this case the parent). It gives a step wise approach of how to
recognise and treat deteriorating asthma.
