Book Reviews October 2007

One of the great gifts we can give our children is the gift of learning. Books can provide children with information that will help them make choices for themselves and later on for their own families.

In this month's reviews we look at books that teach our children about their environment. These books will make a great resource for both parents and teachers.

Keeping to the theme of nature, we also review the book 'Imperfectly natural baby and toddler — How to be a green parent in today's busy world' by Janey Lee Grace.

Better Together by Yvonne Morrison, illustrated by Jenny Cooper, Publisher: Random House, NZ RRP $16.99, Reading age: 3+

‘Better Together’ is the third book in the series. This picture book is for children; it has been written to help children with the arrival of a new baby in the family.

The other two books are for adults: ‘Thriving Under Five’ and ‘I was a Plunket Baby’ by Jim Sullivan. These books were part of the partnership with Plunket.

Parents will enjoy showing the children the wonderful illustrations in this book and its gentle introduction to additions to families.

A great book to have when another baby is about to arrive in the family.
