The Dragon Companion by Carole Wilkinson, illustrated by Dean Jones, Reading age 8+

People have been telling stories about dragons for more than 3000 years. Five-headed dragons, fire-breathing dragons. As big as mountains, as small as dogs. Dragons that can be moody and dragons that have secrets — dragons that are brave or cowardly, smart or stupid, good or downright evil.

In The Dragon Companion, Carole Wilkinson gives you an encyclopedia of the most amazing dragon stories ever told.

Read everything about dragons — from blood and claws to the wicked dragon king of Enoshima.

It will take you round the world, back in time and into the fantastical. If you have enjoyed Carole's other books then you will love this one. It even includes dragons from her own books. Excellent reading.

Flowergirl Me by Sally-Ann Balharrie, illustrated by Kristina Sabaroedin, Reading age 3+

I am Calypso and I love teeny, tiny pearly buttons and skirts that swish.

I want to see a cake as high as the sky.

I’ve been waiting and waiting a very long time.

When will it be my turn to be a flowergirl?

A Little Election by Danny Katz, illustrated by Mitch Vane, Reading age 6+

This book had my kids laughing non-stop. It is funny, in a gross sort of kids' way - which you might not like but your kids will think is really cool!

So what is the book about? Well, one day at lunchtime, Rory decides to become the Prime Minister because he can do anything he wants. Before you know it, the whole class is having an election.

Who will be the new Prime Minister: Rory or Debra-Jo Woo?

When Dad Was a Teenager written and illustrated by Mini Goss, hardback or paperback, Reading age 6+

If you thought 70s fashion was bad, you've forgotten about big hair and padded shoulders. Get ready for the 80s, When Dad Was a Teenager, following on from the award-winning success of Mini Goss' When Mum Was Little.

This is the second book in the series, the first being When Mum Was Little. It is a fun bedtime story, but be warned — your kids will be asking for photos of you when you were a teenager!
