The Onemana playground is located a
about 60 metres from the beach, with a large common area suitable
for flying kites. A public tennis court is located on the other side
of the parking area.
The beach itself is not safe for very
young swimmers as it drops off quickly and the waves tend to bound
swimmers. But for older children it is a lot of fun. In summer the
beach is normally patrolled by lifeguards.
On the southern end of the beach is
shallower and more suitable for parents with younger children,
however the toilets are quite a distance from there.
With rocks at either end of the
beach, fishing and climbing are suitable for older children with
adult supervision. However like most fishing from rocks the dangers
of large waves must never be ruled out.
Holiday accommodation is readily
available in the area, however as it is a popular place
accommodation should be booked early.
Onemana is only fifteen minutes drive
from Whangamata.
