Product Review - Vids
for Kids Kids Friendly New Zealand recently had the opportunity to review the two following videos: "Let's Go 4 Wheel Driving" and "Let's Go Meet the Animals" from the Christchurch based company Vids for Kids. With our test team ranging in ages from four to nine years of age, both videos got the thumbs up from all the children. The boys liked the mud and four wheel drives of "Let's Go 4 Wheel Driving!", while both the boys and girls enjoyed the video "Let's Go Meet The Animals!" Christine Negus, who once was a teacher, believes that real life and New Zealand-made products should be well received by parents. "New Zealand parents want their children to see things that relate to their New Zealand environment." I can vouch for the fact that boys will love Let's Go 4 Wheel Driving. I took the video home to show my two youngest boys, aged 4 and 5 and they just played the video over and over again. And now, whenever we are out James, 5, points out all the clean four wheel drives and asks why they don't go in the mud! He even asked if we could get one, so that we could go in the mud just like in the video. You can tell that the team enjoyed making these videos. In fact we were told one of the first highlights was preparing the story line and writing the songs for them. And you know these songs are good when they get stuck in your head and are played over and over in your mind. The songs are so catchy that one mother rang Christine to say her child was using the song Feed Me Now when he wanted something to eat! With a high standard of production, lively young presenters, catchy songs and great visual footage, we feel that we can recommend theses videos to parents. The video "Let's Go 4 Wheel Driving" is great for boys and would suit children from two years upwards, while "Let's Go Meet the Animals" would suit both boys and girls up to the age of eight or so. Each video is thirty minutes long. "Let's go meet the animals!" is presented by Anna, Kulai and Hayley and is set in the Orana Wildlife Park in Christchurch. While "Let's go 4 Wheel Driving!" is presented by Kulai and show drivers pushing the limits of four wheel drives through swamply streams, messy mud holes and boggy tracks! and, having a great New Zealand feel to them, they would also make suitable gifts for overseas family and friends. We are looking forward to seeing other videos from Vids for Kids in the future as there are several in pre-production. As far as the costs of buying the videos go, they are reasonably priced at $19.95
