Snowplanet - Auckland
Most people won't associate the Auckland region
with skiing. Yet there is snow here 365 days of the year, allowing
you to ski all year round.
Situated just 15 minutes north of the Auckland
Harbour Bridge Snowplanet provides families with hours of fun in the
snow.
Snowplanet is one of the largest indoor snowdomes and is about
the size of two rugby fields, has 50 centimetres of real powder
snow and three lifts. For those with some ski experience you
will be excited to know that Snowplanet has the steepest indoor
slope in the world. You will be able to use the slope without
professional supervision if you have basic skill levels in skiing or
snowboarding.
The Snow Academy
If you have not skied or snowboarded before then
it is recommend to have a lesson from Snowplanet 's Snow
Academy.
The Snow Academy at Snowplanet gives lessons for
both adults and children. Ski lessons for children start from four
years of age and from age eight for those wishing to learn how to use a snowboard. The age
difference is because children need a lot more balance and
coordination on the snowboard than on skis.
Adults lessons include both ski and snowboard tuition,
adults can also choose to have private lesson if they wish. All
lessons, both for children and adults, need to be prebooked.
When arriving for lessons you will need to
allow at least 30 minutes prior to your booked lesson time. This
will give you time to get your rental gear and be ready for your
lesson. Remember to bring suitable warm clothes and your
own hats and gloves as the ski field never gets above
minus five degrees Celsius!

Kids Play Session for
pre-schoolers
Every Monday and Wednesday, excepted during the school
holidays Snowplanet host a 'Kids Play" session. These
sessions run between 9 am and noon and cost only
$15.00 for the child, adults are free. This makes it ideal
for coffee groups.
There is a special Kids Play area set up with safety in mind with Snowplanet providing
toboggans and snow boots for both kids and caregivers free
of charge. You will need to contact Snowplanet to book these
'Kids Play' sessions.
Children's Birthday Parties
Why not invite the kids friends to a
'Snow party'. The Kids Party Pack
make for a
fantastic birthday party. The cost is only $39 per child.
The pack includes a 1-hour snowdome ticket plus lesson,
rental equipment (skis/boots/poles) and a kids meal. To add
a special touch to the occasion, order one of their $29
birthday cakes specially made by their kitchen. Bookings are
essential and special conditions apply (based on a group
size of 6-8 kids or 12-16 kids).
Party Pack
Adults can also celebrate birthdays with friends, family or colleagues
at Snowplanet. They now offer a Party Pack for us
big kids! The pack includes snow hall ticket, instruction,
rental equipment (skis/snowboard, boots & poles) and one
of their dinner or lunch specials in the Mountain View
Restaurant & Bar, all for $69 per person (based on a
group size of 6-10 people or 12-20 people). Advance bookings
are essential and specials conditions apply.
