From the Editor
It's been a busy time for us here and we are really excited about
the new Free to Air family channel which was launched on 30
September by TVNZ, Channel 6.
Kids Friendly New Zealand will be providing you with programme
listings from October.
So what are our thoughts about the channel? Channel 6 is a family
channel where you can safely let your children watch television
until 8pm without concerns about adult content filtering its way in.
After eight, parents will need to be a bit more selective, but a
quick look over the listings here at Kids Friendly New Zealand
should give you a good idea of what is suitable for your children's
age groups.
Parent and Child Shows
If you happen to be in Auckland and are visiting the Parent and
Child Shows, come and say hello. We would love to see you there.
Male Nannies
Delwyn Dickey takes a look at men who becomes nannies. It is
interesting that when I told my ten-year-old daughter about this
article, she raised the concern about whether it would be safe to
have males looking after children. With few men in early childhood
teaching and a lack of male school teachers, this article is food
for thought.
Of course there is a lot more to read, so check out the other items
on our home page.
So enjoy this month
and keep safe.
Cheers
Gaye
