Brownies

125 g butter |
1/2 cups flour
|

1/4 cup cocoa |
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
|
|
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup coconut
|
|
2
eggs |

1 teaspoon vanilla essence |
icing sugar to dust |

1.
You will need a 20 cm shallow baking tin. Make sure that it is
greased and line with baking paper. Heat your oven to 180 C.

Safety
Hint: Remind your children to wash their hands. 20 seconds
to wash and 20 seconds to dry, before they start to cook. |

2. Place butter in a medium saucepan and stir over a
low heat until melted. Add the cocoa and stir over low heat for one
minute. Remove the saucepan from the element. |
|
3. Add in
the sugar an stir. Add each egg, one at a time, beat well after each
egg. Add in essence and coconut and beat well. |
|
4. Sift
flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add and stir in the flour into
the chocolate mixture. Pour the mixture into the baking tin and bake
for 30 minutes. |

5. Leave
in the tin for five minutes, then turn onto a wire rack to cool.
When it is cold you can cut into square and dust with a little icing
sugar. This is very rich, so smaller squares are a better idea than
large ones - that's if you want it to last! |

Teach good habits: Once
the biscuits are in the oven, get your kids to clean up the baking
ingredients and dishes. Leave the kitchen tidy and enjoy your
cooking. |
