Quick and easy

 

With winter in full blast, here are some quick and easy snacks for the children after school or as a hunger buster after sports.

CHEESE ON TOAST / MOUSE  TRAPS

Marmite     

cheese

bread (2 slices per person)

 
       

Preheat grill to 150°C. Place slices of bread on oven tray and grill until lightly brown. Remove from oven and turn over (carefully). Spread with Marmite and place two slices of cheese on top. Grill for 2-3 minutes until cheese melts.

Hubby likes his with tomato relish on top again.


AMERICAN HOT DOGS  

1 long bread roll per person

 butter

frankfurters  

grated cheese

sauces:   tomato, mild mustard, tomato chutney

 
 

Cut bread rolls lengthways on top of bun, making a pocket for the frankfurter. Butter the inside of the roll and place frankfurter inside. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Place in microwave on high for 3 minutes and then pour your choice of sauces on top.

 

SPAGHETTI BUNS

Preheat grill to 150°C. Cut burger bun in half, making two circles. Place soft side down on oven tray. Grill until lightly brown, remove from oven (carefully). Turn over, and spread with spaghetti, then sprinkle with chopped ham and grated cheese. Grill for 3-4 minutes until the cheese melts

 

NACHOS

    

150g corn chips    

1 cup grated cheese

400g can of tomatoes (diced in thick juice) with your choice of herbs.

I used Delmaine Fine Foods, Tomatoes with Fresh Basil, Diced in Thick Juice.

(Optional)

210g can of kidney beans, rinsed and drained



Preheat oven to 180°C. Line oven tray with tinfoil. Add kidney beans here if you want and then arrange corn chips in single layer on oven tray. Sprinkle with tomatoes and then cheese and bake for 10 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden.
