The famous vintage steam train - the Kingston Flyer

You will find the Kingston Flyer at its home base in Kingston. The small settlement is on the southern shores of Lake Wakatipu, a 40-minute drive south of Queenstown. With over 125 years of history, a trip on the Kingston Flyer is a must for families visiting Queenstown. The steam train departs from the Kingston Station twice daily during its running season which begins on 1st October and runs through to 30th April.

Filling up with coal for the journey ahead. The Fairlight Railway Station, which is the end of the line for the Kingston Flyer. On a return trip it leaves from Kingston, arrives at Fairlight and then returns to Kingston. Each trip takes about thirty minutes, with tea and coffee available on board.
